Erick Tyler’s new album “Redemption” is inspiring others to forgive, heal and spread the love. His songwriting ability and meaningful lyrics create a healing & uplifting experience. From powerful songs about finding strength to songs written from despair, this album is a must listen for anyone who loves music & stories from the heart.
A 4th generation musician, Erick has followed in his family’s footsteps. His grandparents met during the 1960’s playing in a band together in Southern California. Singing & playing guitar ran through Erick’s blood and at age 9 he immersed himself in mastering the guitar. He spent his teenage years obsessed with guitar and baseball. After high school, he received an athletic scholarship to play college baseball in New Mexico.
Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree, Erick came back to Fresno, CA and became a substitute teacher. He quickly realized that music was what he wanted and started performing at open mics around Central California. His first band, The Erick Tyler Trio, was playing 3-4 nights a week at coffee shops, wineries & bars across California. As Erick’s music career began so would his battle with alcoholism.
“For many years of my life I was a serious alcoholic. Year after year it was the same vicious cycle. I would try to get sober but couldn’t. I would destroy everything around me and feel terrible about myself. It was truly the lowest point in my life. I felt alone & depressed all the time. I knew I had to make a change or I would be dead, in prison or never amount to anything.”
Erick Tyler got sober on October 19, 2018 and started a new chapter in his life. He moved to San Diego, CA and formed Erick Tyler & The Vibe. The band was performing in bars, wineries, and television. In February of 2020, a California Summer Tour was planned and they were booked at the San Diego County Fair. When Covid-19 unleashed its wrath, everything the band had created was destroyed.
“I started getting angry at how life was turning out. I had quit drinking but was more frustrated than ever before. When the pandemic came, I tried my best to be positive but the darkness was filling my heart.” Erick left So Cal and moved to the peace and serenity of the foothills in Coarsegold, CA.
“Moving to the mountains was a turning point in my life. I had been spiritually empty and the mountains helped me recognize what was missing from my life. When I learned to humble myself and listen to God, my life changed immediately. True purpose and love returned to my life. I began to recognize what God wanted for me and how to fulfill that destiny.” Erick considers his move to the mountains the best decision of his life. His mind & music has evolved to an all time high and people are starting to take notice.
The new album Redemption is gaining high praise amongst his quickly growing fanbase. Songs like “Shining” & “Back to Life” are reflections of Erick’s new outlook on life. Erick is currently performing in Central & Southern California and has high ambitions to spread his message and music to the world.
